You never know when you will need to render aid, but you can choose to be prepared for an unprepared situation. Knowing first aid is one thing, being able to do it is another. Sophie Van Antwerpen of Help Snel teaches you the tricks of the trade.

We immerse you in the ups and downs of small and larger injuries and physical accidents that you can encounter in a dance class with children: nosebleeds, teeth that have just fallen out, skin wounds, sprains, fractures, choking, bandages, hyperventilation … We look at how we approach a situation, what steps we follow, and how you can call for help. In a nice balance of theory and practice, we go through all the content.

In this workshop, we also consider psychosomatic complaints. Children sometimes bring a backpack full of stress from school and home. How do you deal with this as a dance teacher and how can dance play a role in regulating this stress?

Who is Sophie Van Antwerpen?

Sophie Van Antwerpen is a nurse by training and has over 25 years of hospital work experience, including 15 years as head nurse in pediatrics. In 2021, she founded the training center Help Fast. In an interactive way, she tries to bring first aid to as many people as possible.

Why did Anne-Lore invite her to give a workshop?

As a former head nurse in pediatrics, Sophie knows better than anyone how stepmotherly pediatric first aid and dealing with stressors are treated. She is incredibly motivated to teach this workshop and sees first aid in a broader picture than just a minor discomfort or injury like no other.
