Required or recommended?

A physical accidents insurance is only obliged if your organisation works with verenigingswerkers (special category in Belgium). In other cases it is not obliged, but highly recommended for dance organisations.

What is considered as a physical accident?

An accident is a sudden incident of which the cause or one of the causes is external to the body of the victim, and which causes physical injury.

In other words, an accident has to have three elements:

Sudden: something happens suddenly, e.g. a fall or a collision, etc, in a short space of time.
● An injury. Someone is hurt.
● An external cause. The cause of the accident is outside of the person who is the victim.

Physical accidents insurance

A physical accidents insurance urually covers the difference between the cost and what the victim receives from his or her own health insurance fund (ziekenfonds).
