Belgian-born Laura Vanhulle moved to the UK in 2006 to pursue her BA(hons) degree at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance and was selected for an internship with Ace Dance and Music, Shobana Jeyasingh (Counterpoint) and Motionhouse (The Voyage). Since then, she has built a successful career performing for various companies and choreographers, including Ace Dance and Music, Gary Clark, Gustavo Oliveira, Rogue Play, South Paw dance Company, Mickael Marso Riviere, Oliver Robert Russell, Coda Dance Theatre, Keneish Dance Theatre, Sonia Sabri Company, Room2Manoeuvre, Autin Dance Theatre and James Wilton, with national and international tours.
Laura has a strong reputation as a teacher in the UK, working for organizations such as NSCD, The Place, Rambert, Trip Space (London), Swindon Dance, Dance City, Dance East, The Lowry, Freefalldance, DanceXchange, Elmhurst, Wolverhampton University, Coventry University, Edge Hill University. She has taught internationally in Portugal (Porto, Summer Intensive Portugal), Greece and Belgium (Muda – Passerelle).
In 2013, Laura Vanhulle founded Dance Theatre and has since choreographed a range of indoor and outdoor works, including Angles in Life, Echo, Infinite Womanhood, Yin and Moo Shim. Dovetail, choreographed by Mickael Marso Riviere, with music composed by Domenico Angarano. They were also commissioned by PerformAct to create Blindspot & Surge. Recently, Laura and Oliver created a family performance Olive Branch, which is successfully touring outdoor festivals, schools and libraries. They were recently commissioned by The Place to create an Olive Branch Playground version for a six-week national tour of schools and festivals.
